One Of The Best Gifts You Can Give Your Girlfriend - A Techie's Guide

Looking for the perfect gift for your girlfriend/wife? Still not sure why she didn't appreciate the 2 Terabyte SSD you got her last Christmas? you've come to the right place. Now, you could always go and make reservations at a fancy restaurant followed by some sort of entertainment. But what if I told you that for around the same price, you could have your girlfriend smiling from ear to ear while you play video games and do whatever it is you like to do with your spare time. This gift is not only easy to implement, but can be repeated time and time again for any occasion at a price even lower than the initial investment. Still interested? here's how.

The two main components you will need for this gift idea are a 7 inch tablet pc and a waterproof Bluetooth speaker.
In terms of the tablet I personally went with an RCA voyager, simply because it was the only option under 100$ available at my local Walmart. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of this little quad core device. The touch screen is very responsive and streaming Netflix is a breeze. You can pick this up from Amazon even cheaper than I got it for at Walmart.

Whatever tablet you end up going with, just ensure that it is Bluetooth enabled and most importantly it must be a 7 inch tablet, the reason for this will become clear shortly, just stick with me.

For the Bluetooth speaker, I decided to splurge a bit on the UE Wonderboom since I will be taking this speaker along with me on my upcoming trip across Canada. This speaker sounds amazing and is truly waterproof.

Now you may be wondering how this gift actually comes together, but before we get to that, there are a few more things you will need.

First off, you will need a girlfriend. If you are unsure if you already have one I suggest a quick walk through of your house in order to identify some key signs. If there is more than one toothbrush in the bathroom, and you do not live with your parents, you likely have a girlfriend…or a roommate…but who knows maybe they deserve a gift too.

Jokes aside, you will also need a clear Ziploc bag and some good water resistant tape. Now if you weren’t confused already, the Ziploc bag may have pushed you over the edge, so let me explain. The end goal of this gift is to set up a bath-in movie theater for your girlfriend. The reason you need a 7” tablet is that they fit perfectly in a medium Ziploc freezer bag. The Ziploc bag, once sealed, renders the tablet 100% waterproof, without interfering with the viewing quality or touch sensitivity in any way. This allows your girlfriend to stream video on Netflix, YouTube, etc. without having to worry about damaging the electronic components or even having to dry her hands before touching the screen. The tape is then used to mount the waterproof tablet to the wall beside the bath as illustrated below.
