OPEN UP YOUR WORLD BY LEARNING HOW TO SIGN. BRITISH SIGN LANGUAGE BSL.
I have always thought Sign Language should be taught in school. Being able to have a conversation with someone who is deaf not only opens up there world it also opens up yours.

I have passed my level 1 British Sign Language. I'm not a very confident person plus hate having my photo taken so walking into my exam knowing i was going to be videoed made me want to run and hide. I managed to calm myself until the last part when everything went wrong. I failed. I then went back to class to train again... this time i passed but please don't ask me how the exam went as i can't remember.
I tried to do level 2, i passed 2 parts but failed the crucial part as my nerves and anxiety were through the roof. I have to sort that out before trying again.
I started going to a deaf club which opened my eyes to there world. I learned a lot from them plus a few naughty words Which i will not repeat here they do come in handy when someone outside bothers you.
Just learning the basics is a great help, the alphabet is crucial, knowing your right hand is the vowels and when they ask a question its backwards,
E.g My name is what?
Your name is What.?

They hold classes in most community centers, or check out local deaf clubs.
I have a deaf neighbour who at first all i could do was wave but now i can have a conversation with him, my husband and daughter's have picked it up to so now he has more people too talk to. He tells us all about his holidays to Australia and his struggles with Cancer.
I wish i had taken a class when i was younger. Have a go with the alphabet sheet above learn to spell your name, your families names.
Thank you son-of-satire

should create interest, [and help towards 71]

I believe that each major country has its own sign language, which may be a problem
