Quote Of The Day.
"Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die".
-Buddha
A lot of us like to hold grudges on people, and holding grudges on people is the link to all suffering. Your family might of not been supportive to you, you might of been physically abused as a child, you were bullied in school.
All these things were bad times that some of us had to deal with in our life, but we have to realize that it's all in the past. Most grudges we hold onto is from the past.
We have to learn how to be present, and let go of the events that have already happened to us. I know it's hard and there is people out there that are dealing with the same issue or even worse.
Express yourself, and be your authentic self. It's OK to express how you feel in the moment because it allows you to release all the emotions that you have been suppressing for so long.
There are people that are dealing with depression for more than twenty years because they are suppressing the past inside of them. You can see in their eyes that there is something that needs to come out, but they want to hold onto it.
We have to realize what we are holding onto us is not serving us in anyway. We have to start expressing ourselves in a way that will allow us to release all the emotions that have been in us for so long.
As men, we have been taught to be tough. Men are not allowed to express how they feel, and they not allowed to show how they feel.
Studies have shown that men are at a higher risk for anxiety and depression. Why, because we were taught to never have emotions, "Stop acting like a bitch, and be a man. Don't be a cry baby, and don't show your emotions because it will show your weakness". The most common advice most men are taught is this, "Don't forgive the ones that hurt you".
Forgiveness is the healer of most suffering. We have to forgive the ones that may of harmed us in the past, and we were taught as men that we are not supposed forgive those that hurt us?
You know what a real man is to me? A real man is someone brave enough to tell someone how they feel, are able to express how they feel, and are able to forgive the ones that have hurt them in anyway.
That's what a real man is, and we have to stop listen to the crap we have been taught as kids to be tough all the time.
It's OK to be a little mentally tough, but it's more beneficial to release are emotions.
So the moral of this quote is to not hold onto any grudges that you have inside you, and don't be afraid so express any emotion that you have, especially for all the men out there. :)
So all you guys out there, don't listen to the crap we have been taught as a child.
