Vegan Wins Triathlon

in #life7 years ago

Right after the gun at the Orillia Triathlon back in August. I was able to come away with a win on that day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The swim was called off due to e.coli levels (or so I heard), and the race was turned into 2km run + 33km bike + 7km run. It was the first duathlon I ever raced but it was to my advantage because I am not a strong swimmer. I ran 6:05 for the first 2km (3:02/km), then rode 53:07 for 33km on a mildly rolling bike course (37.29kph), and finally ran 26:32 for the final 7km (3:47/km). That's 1:27:22 including transition times.

Chris Howe finished only 3 seconds behind be for 2nd place. Myles Lane and Matthew Fong were not far behind in 3rd and 4th places either. It was a battle that I will not soon forget and words cannot express how much fun it was to fight for the win on behalf of team vegan. ⠀⠀⠀

Vegan power for the win!

I'd love to be able to be fit one day enough to do a triathlon. Just not confident enough in my swimming.

My swimming is not the best either. Just get in the pool with a good coach who can get you started. Technique is so important.
