Our jobs are under threat - we might need your help #cryptoordie
Hello people of Steemit!
If you already follow us you know the score, if not have a quick look at our introduction post here, you will find out what we are trying to achieve.
So we’ve had an announcement at work stating 50 out of 97 roles are under threat of redundancy.
Big company, big money, we understand the industry we are in is very competitive, the company needs to remain so, unfortunately this affects us.
So why are we blogging this?...
This part of our lives is very very important.
Everyone gets invited into a meeting room for a big announcement, people speculate, from crazy ideas, a lot of grasshopper thinking jumping at the speed of light towards the worst possible outcome.
The first thought that comes to mind when you’re told you might not have a career at the company you are working for is “I have a mortgage, I have kids to pay for oh shit” panic sets in and you start to worry.
However, we saw this coming (sort of). We are always pushing ourselves and the systems we work with to constantly improve, we have worked automation into the non value adding tasks we do so we have more time to add value. We have saved the company money in excess of our annual salary, we have created measures to monitor and trend certain processes so we can make short term and long term wins. When you think about it, that's what the company is trying to do.
When you have systems in place that can be run from anywhere in the world, why just run it from here? Why not run it from there?
We began to think “if we can apply ourselves and make/save a company money from our own initiative, why can't we do this alone?”
This day has made us realise (and surely give us the kick up the backside that we needed) that nobody is ever safe unless you have full control, even then you’re not safe but at least you have the chance to write your own future.
We are full of ideas, and really want to get things moving. We ask you as a community to support and join us on this journey. Any suggestions on what you would like to see, any feedback you can give us we will appreciate and act on. We aren't planning on making a living from steemit, but we will document our lives here at least for the time being.
Anything you want support with, we maybe able to help, I guess you could say we are a sexy modern day Robin Hood and Little John.
One day we will all be replaced by robots anyway, we want to remain human.
