#38 - My life with the Coconut
When I was young, my family was planting vegetables and selling coconuts. Our house has a large place to grow vegetables and has lots of fruits , coconut trees. My father sells coconut which has been drained to the factory. I still remember the hard time and how difficult to get every things done.
- all the photos below just a sample
First, I have to follow my father to the forest or field to find the coconuts that have fallen to the ground. Sometimes, my father will be hooking old coconut from coconut trees.
We will put coconuts one by one into the sacks and carry it back to my house. With the strength of my body, I only managed to carry seven to ten coconuts. Sometimes only six coconuts. Very heavy and long way back to my house. We need to bring it home and return to the forest again and again.
After all the coconut has been brought home, we will take out all the coconuts from the sacks and put it to a place. The next day, my father will peel the coconut so that we can dig out the coconut flesh. Is very hard work.
I remember my mother toes was bleeding because the sharp object that she used to dig out the coconut flesh hurt her toes. Then my auntie use coffee powder to stop the bleeding before going to the hospital.
To dig out all the coconut flesh it takes two or three days to finish all.
After that I have to put all the coconut flesh on the aluminum zinc roofing sheet for drying process . I have to put all under the sun. Is a lot and I need to dry in the morning and pack it in the evening. This work needs to be done every day until all the coconut flesh completely dry. It might takes 10 to 15 days , is depends on the weather.
The last process is collect all the dried coconut flesh and put into the sacks. Then my father will punching the coconut flesh by using a wooden stick. After completion, sacks filled with dried coconut will be sewn and sent to the coconut factory.

OMG this is one of the loveliest stories I have read in a very long time @honey-pot you should be making $100's of dollars for this post.
I love the how you explain the process and as a child when you say "with the strength of my body, I only managed to carry seven to ten coconuts. Sometimes only six coconuts" and then have the image of the little child carrying coconuts. I think many people do not know, understand or appreciate the effort that goes into harvesting coconuts.... lovely story, thanks for sharing.
Thanks my dear @arthur-schopen, that's the life and my experience when I was 10 to 13 years old. Even though is hard time but is fun. I'm happy to share it , I think many people do not know about it . Even my youngest brother never experience it.
Thanks again for your upvote @arhur-schopen ;)
