Introducing...

Hello folks, the account @hobworks is geared towards making an emphasis on the need to leverage one’s hobbies to generate income for oneself. This account is controlled by me, Olaniran Oluwatobi. J, a Nigerian, a writer and an advocate for everyone to live a happy life. Because I believe, “In the end, no matter how long, we live short lives and if we don’t make deliberate attempts to be happy, a useless one”

The word hobby is defined as what an individual enjoys doing in his spare time. However, I posit that the following is a misplaced definition. Why? I throw it back, why do something you enjoy in your spare time and not basically all the time? For me, writing is my muse and it gets me going all the time, I am currently not on any real job apart from writing jobs at the moment. And because I enjoy writing, I delight in getting the words out for people to read and I in turn consume a lot of written content. The average millennial just doesn’t want ‘something’ that can’t make him happy whether a job, girlfriend, device, etc. So for our generation it is all about loving and enjoying one thing or the other. This is why we see a large percentage of us moving into vlogging, blogging, social media influencing, etc. The more serious ones go into coding and other fields. But the main point for us is enjoying what we do.

Hobbies, I discovered have remained unutilised goldmines because we choose to believe that work shouldn’t necessarily be fun. I beg to defer because it is in enjoying what we do that we can live happy lives. That is why the name ‘hobworks’ a short form of “hobbies work”. This platform I hope will open your eyes to the possibilities inherent in making use of our hobbies as work. And I believe it will be your shortcut to being self-employed and financially independent, a dream of millions out there. I also believe hobbies will be an easy go to for many people as they inevitably get fed up with their 9am – 5pm jobs or worse get laid off. I hope with the posts on here you can take some time out to look within to see what you enjoy doing and see how you can work on it. In the meantime, if you can’t decide yet I hope to help you discover one that you can follow with passion.

“Also, that you enjoy/ love sleeping, eating and other random indulgences doesn’t make it the right type of hobby to follow. Except of course, you have found a way to be paid to sleep or taste foods the possibility of which I can’t entirely rule out.”

Follow this account as I take you through the world of hobbies. Posts on this account will however not be limited to hobbies, as it will be infused with celebrity talks, morals, love stories and other sundry lifestyle topics as we embark on this journey together.
