Our Stolen Tomorrow:
Greetings Steemians!
Trust you're having a beautiful week.
So yesterday i was coincidentally in an area in port Harcourt, Old GRA to be precise where primary election was being conducted. At first when i realised what was happening i was excited because I've never been in an election ground before.
But what i saw was disheartening! A lot of young boys, being hired as thugs for the exercise, very young boys, with age ranging from 14.
Given talisman, daggers and guns, i was terrified at the site, they were smoking hard drugs and their eyes were all blood shot, loud noises everywhere, broken bottles, fights breaking out. It was a pitiful sight.
I was deeply grieved by this, i found out these boys have no home, and all the violence they were exhibiting, and the death trap they escape and fall prey to daily is all for a token of 5thousand naira. While innocent citizens are taken advantage of and brain washed into putting their lives on the line for 2thousand naira.
Politicians groom these boys and give them arms to fight to the death so they can steal or remain in power.
It was no longer surprising when i discovered that they did not even make use of the voter's card that we are urged to register and collect.
People are either bribed or bullied into taking sides, nothing free and nothing is done fairly in Nigerian Elections.
Growing up i always sang the song; we are the leaders of tomorrow.
*But our tomorrow has been stolen even before we got into today.
*Our youth are given arms instead of civic education
*Our rights have been exchange for peanut tokens
*We have subconsciously slipped into a state of Anarchy even tho we are in a democratic era while our leaders practice Oligopoly.
IN A WORLD WHERE GREED, QUEST FOR POWER AND LAWLESSNESS rule the day... What is the fate of the Nigerian child....
Please Fathers! Return our tomorrow you stole.
Give us a chance to express and revolutionize the country.
Take the back seat and allow the younguns to thrive.
Give our tomorrow a chance.... "If we keep living in your today, we will never get into our tomorrow "
Take a stand for the truth let tomorrow come alive.
