What does music mean to you?

Today I wanted to share my thoughts about one of my favourite things in life. Yes, it is music. I've been playing the drums since 8 years old but did not practise as much in the last years. I also like making musical sketches on my Korg Electribes. I want to start learning electronic music production in my free time once I get my hands on a copy of some good music software, probably FL Studio or Ableton.

But why I am so obsessed with music? I guess it's the fact, that I was raised with a lot of music in my everyday life. Since my parents are from two different countries I got used to listening to many different types of music from different eras. My mum to this day tells me the stories about how I used to listen to songs on repeat at times so I could dance to them over and over again.
I believe music is a phenomenal tool to express feelings and telling stories without saying a single word even. Anxiety, fear, hope and love can all be expressed through sounds, melodies and rhythm. I do not want to get too much into my music tastes, but there is one specific musical experience, that for me is just special. In my town, we have a small club that usually plays underground techno music on Fridays. Since the club is so small and is basically a larger dark basement, the feeling in there is so cosy yet euphoric. The people who go to that club usually come for the music and the dancing and we all are on that same wave of emotions more or less. I experienced people coming in expecting something completely different and leaving after 15-30min not getting into the right mood.
I don't go there every Friday, in fact, I only go there once every few months, but still, I love it. I love how no one judges you for the way you look or dance like, you are allowed to be the way you want to be.
Music for me is always a way to enhance or change my feelings, I do not stay listening to a specific genre of music all the time. I mostly change between styles depending on my mood, maybe the weather even. When I drive I like listening to different music for when I am studying or gaming.

Music for me sometimes brings back feelings from the past, music is able to bring me to places I've never seen and remember things I never experienced. That's what I love about music.
