The Present Moment Is Not The Center Of The UniversesteemCreated with Sketch.

in #life7 years ago

Many people seem to believe that the present moment is somehow the only thing that's real, as if the past was gone and the future hadn't happened yet.  But that's a pretty selfish belief though, isn't it?  Just because this is where you are in time, that doesn't mean it's the center of the Universe!  Did you really believe that everyone was experiencing time in the same exact moment?  What about the people who had gone before us?  Did you think all those people are ghosts or something?

Well, what if we were wrong about time?  What if this present moment isn't anything special?  What if time was more of a personal issue?  After all, what does the Present Moment mean to something that isn't alive to care about such things?  It takes conscious awareness to perceive the flow of time, but awareness is something unique to every individual.  Nobody can prove that any two people are sharing the same present moment without accidentally proving that everyone is present in every moment of their lives.  Try to prove it, I dare you!

Historical records show that Socrates had a companion, some might say that it was sort of like his imaginary friend.  He even talked about it just before he died.  The thing was, his imaginary friend always seemed to know things that Socrates himself shouldn't have been able to know...  things that turned out to be true later in his lifetime.  In more recent times a new theory has emerged that his imaginary friend was really his own awareness from outside of his present moment.  It was like he somehow had memories of another turn at living his life.

Physicists and mathematicians have proven that the equations they use to predict what will happen in experiments can also be ran backwards.  That's how they've been able to look back through time to calculate the moments just after the Big Bang.  It works like this, any high school algebra student should recognize this math translation:

If  E = m*c2  Then  m = E/c2

In other words if energy equals mass times the speed of light, then mass has to equal energy divided by the speed of light.  Math doesn't lie, everything you've ever known including yourself is just energy (the potential for something to happen) that's been slowed down (happened).

Of course, you could go on believing that the Universe only exists in one single moment, in which case you're lucky to be alive, what are the odds of the actual present moment for the entire Universe being right now, during your lifetime?  I mean really, those odds are literally one out of Infinity.  I could try getting creative and making jokes about the odds of winning every lottery, or the statistical likelihood of being struck by all the lightning bolts, but I would still be making drastic understatements, so maybe I'll just save those jokes for another turn.

Hi, I'm FutureWhale and this has been my first post on SteemIt.  If I've sparked your interest then please feel free to leave a comment below.  I always love to hear what other people think.

The universe thing is all a lie. The heliocentric model was created 500 years ago by Copernicus to disprove God's existence. The Earth is the center of everything. All of the stars and planets revolve around the stationary geocentric Earth. The North Star never moves and all the stars maintain their proportionate distance to each other while revolving around the North Star. The North Star never moves. It is directly above the North Pole of the Earth. There is some Force holding it in place. It's like the pivot point for all of the stars and planets in the sky. Check out my blog with moon and eclipse pictures. I also have pictures of Venus and random Stars. They look nothing like NASA depicts. The stars appear to be underwater. Just like the Bible says in Genesis chapter 1. God created the firmament to separate the waters above from the waters below. This is where the flood waters came from that flooded the Earth in Noah's day.

I know it sounds ridiculous at first. But the powers that should not be have lied to us to maintain control over us. I was the biggest Star Wars fan boy ever. I was also a NASA geek. All that changed when I found out the truth.

What about the people who had gone before us? ?! 'before us' this is past.Awareness outside the present moment? What are you talking about minnow? You seems to contradict yourself in your own words...that's selfish. C'mon teach us something wise.

The "present moment" that we are experiencing is actually a memory of the past - albeit, a very very recent pasts. It takes time for the signals of our sensory organs to transmit the signals to our conscious brain. Therefor what we are seeing, hearing etc are all things that have happened in the past.

But then again it is the only thing we can actively change... influencing the future is just a byproduct of action in the present.
Cool post. Upvoted.

@futurewhale I am a present girl only because it's the time I can do something about anyhow I have good points for discussion here. Steem on

"Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves." -bill hicks.
Some people think time is a product of the central nervous system as a way of coping with the constant feeling of earths gravity/acceleration... maybe explains why sensory deprivation tanks work.
