HOW A FORMER HEAD TEACHER FROM UGANDA FOUND FORTUNE IN ORANGE FARMING

Let me tell you a secret. I learned this from my dad, who does numerous fruit and vegetable farming.

He said that if we want to get ahead, we have to avoid this ‘title thing’ and work on things that create fortune while we’re are young and have lots of energy, before we have a family and other responsibilities.

He used to work a regular eight- hour day, five days a week, as a head teacher and then work weekend doing fruits farming. Doing this, he created a fortune for his family. His Annual income of 7 Millions Uganda Shillings, as a teacher increased to not less than 73 Millions Uganda Shillings as a Farmer.

He does basically oranges in large quantities. See in the picture below:

Last weekend, I sat down with dad to discuss ‘men things’ and that is how he shared with me his untold story of how he loved teaching but he kept struggling.

“I couldn’t put up descent house for my family, feeding my family was a challenge too. I couldn’t afford to raise school fees for you (my children). I remember there was a time I didn’t have money to clear school fees for you guys, so I went borrow the money just to be reminded of how I was a failure. My full-time teaching job was not paying me enough to take care of even the basic needs,” he asserted.

Reflecting on what my dad shared with me, what comes to mind is that I actually studied because this old man took a decision. The decision he took to trade his teaching job for farming. It became quite clear to me that the more a man suffers, the more he thinks.

Well, the secret is that the profession we chose can either be a ‘bitter pill’ to us or a sweet one. So many people are presented with opportunities like @steemit or even @blockchain as a new way of gaining fortune but are so screwed to doing what will never bring the best in them.

My good friend @jaraumoses is a testimony on this. I was doing something together with him, two years ago, but earned $0. When he joined Steemit, he is totally a changed man, just like my dad is.
