SMOKING HAPPINESS
Living in a country where self-grow of marijuana is legal, has great advantages.
In 2014 the Uruguayan government finally approved the project of legalization of recreational consumption and self-cultivation of marijuana for anyone with nationality and over 18 years old.
Being totally sincere, I will confess that I have personally grow weed before 2014, and I am not the only one,
beyond the approval of the law, there was always a culture where social and moral acceptance existed long before.
On the first of October 2015 I started with a germinator and about ten seeds, I will not go into much detail about it. I think all of us children have gone through this incredible experience of making a germinator, where we put a few seeds between two wet napkins, let it in the dark for a few days, and we notice that we have created life.
In the early days, the first roots start to appear and the happiness in my face began to come to light too.
Over a few weeks, the buds were transformed into seedlings, and the speed with which they grew was incredible, a well aerated substrate, and a bit of homemade food were the key, all of this comes with the beautiful spring sun to gave a vitality and a color that looked like a paint.
Although the regulation of the law says that a maximum of six female plants per household is allowed, my idea of planting wild seeds without genetic intervention made me have to germinate more than six in case I have to eliminate some possible male plants.
Many will already know how the subject is with these plants, and their flowering.
The female plant is the one that gives flowers with THC, the male plant has the power to pollinate the female and transform it into a plant that flowers seeds and then fall to the floor and thus reproduce.
In my case I was not very interested in generating seeds, but get the flowers with as much THC as possible, all organic and handmade.
Summer was already starting, and slowly the weather is getting perfect for them, the plants already had an important size, the idea of beginning to tie the tips to control the height and to give more light to the lowest parts of the plant. with a big percentage sativa, beyond not knowing its origin, the type of thin leaf and its intense light green color showed where it came from.
Less than a month after the harvest, the plants seemed to be eating the garden, and the scent they emitted was a beautiful perfume, laden with citrus notes, and a background of hard work and constancy that made the whole process worthwhile.
I remember the anxiety that ran through my body day by day, and the desire I had to make a tasting of my own harvest, all this was spinning in my head even knowing that after harvesting would have about a month of waiting while the process of drying and curing of the product.
The day had arrived, the manicure and the preparation of the branches already harvested to put to dry delay about one week between two people, working with two scissors for an average of 4 hours per day.
The result was incredible, I had my three main cabinets full of hanging branches with a humidifier extracting, making sure to do the proper process, and after a little more than a month I got about 500 grams of organic flowers, perfectly dry and ready to bundle.
As a regular consumer of marijuana for over ten years I can give my honest opinion that legalization is a great step to end many related problems.
Not having to go to the suburbs to buy illegally a product of quality and provenance that left much to be desired, the ridiculously high prices of high season seemed to control the market, and finally finished breaking the social taboo, and today anyone can enjoy a weed, just like a beer, in the shade of a tree sitting in a park.
