Baby Sam sleepover. Dead tired and walking outside for the first time.

in #life7 years ago

I was woken up by an unfamiliar sound this morning.

I heard a small voice happily talking.

I checked my phone.

It was only 6 am. I must have been dreaming.

But soon I realised I was not.

Baby Sam was awake and he had no interest in going back to sleep.

Bianca took him out of his bed and put him on our bed and I went downstairs to get a bottle of milk (per instruction of my sister).

I felt rough as f*ck while warming his bottle.

I went upstairs and gave him his bottle.

Milk splashed everywhere straight away.

Bianca said, ' It's coming out to fast!'.

Instantly I realized what that little rubber nozzle thing was for that until 30 seconds ago I had no clue of what it was, was for.

Downstairs I went to grab it.

I put it on his bottle and order was restored.

This is how your days starts apparently when you have kids.

You feel tired and confused.

It's basically hell.

Most of the time I like to believe I'm not an idiot.

I see no reason for two people to have to suffer from an early riser.

I sacrificed myself and took baby Sam downstairs so Bianca could sleep more.

I dropped him on the kitchen floor and made coffee first.

Soon I realized that the heating had not kicked in yet. It's not programmed to heat up the house at midnight.

It didn't seem to bother him but I put on a sweater.

Then we played with Lego.

I think the most tiring of watching a child is that you can't do anything constructive.

Normally I start my day reading the crypto news and going through my round of websites.

But forget it! It's impossible. (I did try).

You can't leave him out of your sight for a second or he will hurt himself. (balancing holding a table or finding a piece of plastic)

At 9:00 I was instructed to give him a sandwich.

That was fun. He can now feed himself and he stuffed the sandwich in his mouth at blazing speed.

Just like me. (he must be family).

The sun came through at some point and then I decided to dress him and take his walker outside.

I think this was my proudest moment of this babysitting.

His mom told me later he never walked outside before.

He walked very well while dropping on the floor a few times but I just picked him up and encouraged him again.

I think he loved it.

It's a sense of freedom after all!

His mom picked him up not much later.

I felt beat.

But I love that little man.

Hell or not I hope he comes again soon. (Sis, if you read this, somewhere next year will be fine ;) )

This is soooo funny haha! And very accurate. I'm a solo Mother to a child who NEVER slept as a baby, I mean never - maybe 20 minutes here and there, so I never had the chance to sleep through the night and wake up at 6am (We do that now after 5 years) And she never slept through the night til she was 3. Saying it's hell is pretty accurate lol, you're responsible for a little life while your severely sleep deprived it's definitely not easy, but it gets easier. You've done a fab job, sometimes we have to drop them on the floor & grab a coffee just for a little sanity lol.

@kaykunoichi
This is wonderful I liked
For young children I have a strange boy sleeping in the day and wake up at night named senior and I love him and work for him

Sam is really cute and these moments shall be framed in your mind for ever and when u recall these moment your heart will get filled with content.

You did good, @exyle! Kids do love to walk outside and that was your first and Sam's first walk together outside. That is quite a milestone! Getting up early is something kids do! You get used to it when they are your own. It comes with the territory...Sam is really cute and a good little boy!

You get used to it when they are your own.

I trust you :)

Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.

Aww! Thanks! You remind me so much of my son, Chris.

Such a cute little boy but babysitting is so exhausting! Did you encourage your sister to bring him back when he is 18? Lol!

Ah, the joys of being an uncle. I have a few nieces and nephews. The early days of watching them make you realize the part-time nature of being an uncle is much easier than being a father!

Sam oh Sam, his behavior kindda cute as well... stuffed the sandwich on his mouth, adorable to see him eat like that.. i enjoy watching my son eating nuggets, 6 to 7 pcs in blazing speed, but sometimes worried on getting choke, but i think the kids knows their stuff well.. :)
Happy for you and enjoy the blessing of baby sitting.. :)

Next week again? 😜

next year will do!

Haha, thats only 2 weeks

Take care of him, i wish to be a responsible father too someday

Haha too funny sorry @exyle but one night of hell got you pretty beat it seems, but yea a accurate chain of events that happen in the early days of having children and its true you cant leave them for a second.

Really love to see sam at the corner enjoying a lot . love to him kiiss
