Forgot My Tips, But It's Still A Small Perk That Adds Up
At my job, I receive tips, but every now and then I forget to pick up my cash tips. Some of us wait two weeks, while others wait an entire month before collecting them. Personally, I prefer waiting until the end of the month—it feels more rewarding that way. However, I ended up forgetting to grab my tips this morning before I left.
Thankfully, it's not a problem since our tips are kept safe in individual envelopes by management. Still, I really need to get into a proper routine—or at the very least, make it a habit to check the box before heading out. I’m hopeful that this month’s envelope will be a solid one, especially since it's been pretty busy at work lately.
We don’t have traditional servers like you’d find at a full-service restaurant, so we all split the tips equally among the staff. On average, my share amounts to about $30 to $60 a month. It’s not a huge amount, but it helps cover small bills—like my phone payment—which definitely takes some pressure off.
