Had an AWESOME day hanging with @tegansteems yesterday, Jerky Store (this post) and Rock Hunting (next one)!!
A few weeks ago we were joking about driving an hour and a half north to visit a general store that has a huge selection of jerky.
Saturday, Tegan mentioned it and much to his surprise, I said "let's go!". I messaged my cousin that lives up near there and asked if he wanted to go rock hunting on the beach of Lake Michigan after we visited the store. He told me it was going to rain all day but ended up telling me to grab some rain ponchos and lets go.
We drove 70 miles just to get jerky.... Looks worth it, right?
The Dublin General Store is a hidden gem: A full grocery store, hardware store, and awesome hot and cold deli.
His face made the entire trip worth it:
The part that really makes this a destination for me is they don't mind you trying whatever your heart desires, want to try alligator? Go for it! Ostrich? Sure! Kangaroo? Crikey!
Tegan was disappointed that the more "exotic" jerkys were out of stock, but we did manage to give Ostrich a shot along with Elk and Wild Boar.
He decided on BBQ Elk, the kid is smart! It was probably the best of all the ones we tried.
In addition to the jerky area, they also had a hot deli with completely reasonably-priced food: chicken, corn dogs, taquitos, etc. Their cold deli is filled with dips and spread and cheeses, all made by the store:

We had an awesome time, I will treasure this day forever! We had so much fun, and the day wasn't even finished!

That is awesome. I was just over there this Spring and didn't realize this store existed. I think my wife and I are heading back over to Manistee in the fall and I might have to track this place down! Great post!
