HOW MANY TIMES DO YOU BREATHE IN A DAY?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Have you ever sat and wondered or tried calculating the number of breaths you consume in a day? No! But why? Is it that it is not important? Now let us see how many breaths we actually take each day.

There are certain important things we require to do every blessed day. Some of which we think about, such as eating and drinking. In fact, if you are famished, you might be thinking about your next meal right now.

OK TRY READING THE NEXT PARAGRAPH WITHOUT BREATHING …

Many things we do everyday are things we don’t even notice that we’re doing. For example, when's the last time you thought about breathing? Except when the pastor asks you to thank the Lord for the breath of life or you just ran a race or have a bad cold, you probably take breathing for granted and don't give it a second thought. Isn't it interesting how something so critical to life goes on without you even taking cognizance of?

YOU SEE? YOU COULDN'T EVEN FINISH HALF OF THE PARAGRAPH WITHOUT BREATHING

So how often does all of this in and out breathing take place? It depends upon your age and also your level of activity. Children tend to have more rapid breathing rates. For example, newborn babies often breathe 30-60 times per minute, . Preschoolers may breathe 20-30 times per minute. Older children and adults like you, when resting, usually breathe about 12-20 times per minute. Over the course of a day, that sums up to about 17,000-30,000 breaths per day — or more! Can you imagine!!! And It's quite possible you might breathe 50,000 times or more per day if you're active!

OK LET US TAKE AN EXERCISE

Since it would be almost impossible to number every single breath you take during a day, you'll have to do an estimate. Set a timer for one minute and then count the number of breaths you take during that minute. Multiply that number by 60 to get the number of breaths per hour. Then multiply that number by 24 to get your number of breaths per day. Then ask your friends and family members to do same so you can compare the results and then take the average. You will be amazed at what you’ll discover.

I always believe it will be impossible to be tracking one's breathing. unnamed.gif
