form what i remember in my parts a father would eventually give his son a knife when he was ready to take this responsibility, but wasn't necessarily seen as a rite of passage.

in my family we have a rite of gifting a watch to the son/ daughter at the 18th bday, as from now on time will move faster and you better watch out or some stuff like that xD

mind you this friend of mine is in uk and hes a welsh guy, so no clue what are their traditions xD

ohh well if you want a knife of mine you just need to ask, kitchen or hunting xD prices aren't extreme as you maybe think/imagine. ;) the only hassle if you live on the move, is to carry it around xD especially thru airports :\
