Good friends make all the difference when studying to be an engineer...

Hello fellow steemians

Ever since I was a young boy I wanted to study Biomedical engineering.

If I'm honest, I didn't know too much about the course for the longest time. In fact whenever someone would ask me what it was, I would always say, "You know the people that invented the x-ray machine? Yeah, I'm going to be one of those." It all started when I was young and a friend of my Dad's from church came over and told me that if I wanted to be rich I should study to be a biomedical engineer. It seems kind of shallow, but it stuck with me and so after some contemplation, I finally started after 3 years of being out of school.

I'm now only 3 weeks in and I have to say that I feel a little overwhelmed. After not having such an intense study schedule it's easy to feel like you're drowning in all of the information that is thrown at you. I have a great group of friends, a smart group of friends, who I always tell that I'm a potato and I need to sprout again to get back on their level. All jokes aside though, I have found in just these three short weeks that you can never do these difficult things alone. You need to surround yourself with people that have the same interest and drive as you. In fact I have spoken to a few of my post grad friends and all of them have said that engineering is not a degree that you can take on alone.

I love what this picture states. Those who you surround yourself with often times make who you are. Why? Simple, success breeds success. That's what I have found while studying with three of my really good friends, Kirin, Keowa and Dylan. These are a bunch of success seeking lads who are motivated to do their very best. We even have an unwritten rule that we have to sit in the front row of a lecture hall in order to have maximum focus.

I'll give you an example of how we build each other. Just today we were all feeling a little negative. I guess we had what they call the "Monday blues" and we were struggling to stay focused. Out of the blue Dylan just chose to have a really positive mindset and that positive mindset really motivated me to have a more positive outlook on where I was because I often times feel I'm a bit behind the curve. He doesn't know it but he really helped me out, and that's what true friends do, they perk you up when you're down.

Well, its only three weeks in so I can't say much for how this course will go but what I can tell you my life is only worth living if I can share it with others. I hope to continue to make friends that will motivate and encourage and for whom I will do the same.

Great Post Man,

I can tell you my life is only worth living if I can share it with others

That is very True, you need other people around you to be able to have fun while doing something, otherwise... what is the point of doing something, if you don't enjoy it!!

Thanks for the up vote man I appreciate it
