Back at work on the rigs... Some cool vids :D

Heeeeeey Everybody

Soooooo I made it out to our work site, somewhere near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta the other day when there was about 8 inches of snow on the ground... today it is plus 10 with not a single shred of the white stuff. Just goes to show how crazy it is in out world sometimes.

So all the guys I work with seem pretty rad so far, and everyone is from all over, some guys from BC, another feller from Ontario and 2 guys from opposite ends of Alberta so its really nice to have that mix up of 'cultures' if you will.
Now i will say that this job is one of the hardest out there period, and forsure the hardest job I have ever done... It is soo physically demanding that if I was to share some of the real stuff we do, it would could across like I'm talking smack. For example, having to carry 88lb bags of product we add to our drilling mud, about 50 yards, back and forth allllllllllll day, or having to work 12 hours straight with no time to stop and eat or drink, that must all be done on the fly (grab sandwich and stuff it on your pocket and eat it when you have a hand free for a moment)
There are somedays where I think to myself I must be crazy... but then there are others where I love it, and most of my mates cant understand it...!!

It has been a pretty rough go so far here, I have been in for 6 days already and my poor body aches. I am sore, my knees and back hurt and I find myself lost n thought for most of the day, thinking about all the fun stuff my friends and family are doing back home, whilst im stuck in the baron, muddy landscape which on top sits a drilling rig.
It may sound like some disasterous situation where one would ask, why do it?
Well two reasons: 1, the money... its oilfield work so obviously the money is fantastic. 2, once you have set foot on a drilling rig, and have felt the roar of the motors, or the weight of 5 kilometers of drillpipe slowly being pulled from the earth, the smell of the diesel fumes or the glowing golden sunsets on the horizon... it takes ahold of somewhere inside of you-it makes its presence known somewhere deep down, a sort of presence that you will never forget...
Thats partly why I am here aswell... They say a man forms an attachment to iron when working with it for long enough, and I can totally see how thats true.

So here are 2 vids I put up the other day, showing a little of the rig I am on now :)

hahaha its the same music on both but I love the chune!!

Thanks everyone for checking in today, will be more up soon :D

Worked in the patch in Williston in the 80s. Was an experience for sure

No way, I hear stories from those days!! Those were some knarly times I can only imagine!!
You should see some of the technologies they have for drilling practices these days, and some of the rigs too... we have a rig in our canadian onshore fleet now that can pull over a million pounds!!!! it walks itself from hole to hole and its basically all automatically run... hard to believe really....
Thanks mate
