Having no filter got me in trouble at work, but it's also important.

Hey guys,

So I'm currently working in a bank, which I joined right in the middle of losing my sense self.

I saw many opportunities in joining a bank, both career and otherwise.

One of which (because I would be interacting with customers daily) was getting my personality back, because I felt I had lost a big part of it, keeping myself isolated building a business and also, as I had lost my sense of self.

Everything was going fine. I had a great time joking with customers, although this perhaps was not the best idea.
One day, I had an interaction with a woman, let's say 40-45, and asked her what she was doing this weekend. She told me her husband was going away for the weekend and I suggested she get the girls together and hire a male stripper.

Not a smart move in hindsight. I didn't think much of it and was just having a joke with her.

Long story short, she complained (and rightly so) and I my boss had quite the chat with me.

My point isn't that we should be saying things that will get us in trouble at work. It was extremely unprofessional of me to say something like that. My point here is that I don't want to be a part of an organisation where you have to watch what you say and water down your personality.

It's important we work for ourselves and strive towards ultimate freedom, because not only do we obtain freedom in the form of not having to be working for someone else, but if successful, we achieve a level of financial freedom and the freedom to be ourselves, none of which we get from working for someone else.

We spend 80% of our lives at work. More than likely, being a watered down version of ourselves. If we spend 80% of our lives being watered down, we are 80% watered down.
