RE: What do you think is the most actionable and effective solution to global warming?

in #life8 years ago

Increased use of renewable energy and less reliance on fossil fuels is the only way. Elon Musk has made tremendous strides with electric and self driving vehicles, but solar, wind, and water need to be fully utilized. And this all needs to happen quickly, as there are "positive feedback loops" which increase the rate of rising carbon dioxide levels. For instance, ice reflects light and keeps temperatures cooler. As ice melts, more heat is absorbed and temperatures rise faster.

The window for acceptable carbon dioxide levels is narrow. Too little and you have Mars, a planet with no atmosphere. Too much and you have Venus, a toxic and hot planet. We have to stop the rise and do it fast

Wow. That's quite an ominous situation we seem to be in, thanks for your clear and thorough explanation @daut44.
Which technological innovations other than 'green' energy and advancements in the automotive and transportation industry do you think are possible and necessary? And on another account, which global or national policies do you think should be instituted to counteract the global warming feedback loops?
