My thoughts on human sharing and steemit.
To expand on a previous post. Why can't humans admit that they need each other? It's funny really, we see ourselves as being so much smarter than animals, yet without the combined accrued knowledge from past generations, we would know absolutely nothing, we would find ourselves huddled under a banana leaf shivering in the rain!
Without others combined skills and specialties developed over thousands of years working for the common goal, we wouldn't have the technology and things we sometimes take for granted.
When we work together and share knowledge and resources, we fair so much better. I think we should admit that working together is how we got to where we are. I'm not advocating socialism or have any political agenda, just pointing out that humans need each other for absolutely everything.
What's the first thing we do when discovering a new tool or finding a pretty stone, we want to share it, to tell someone. This desire is strong, that's why social media is so popular, we get to share our thoughts, this fills some deep need. It's what make humans human, but why do we do it?
Ever notice how the generous type of people tend to be so much happier than the greedy type? Giving, whether it's information, art or physical things rewards ourselves by fulfilling one of our most basic instincts. If only everyone could grasp that, many of the worlds problem would be instantly solved.
Steemit is perfect for our basic instinct of sharing. Not only can we share thoughts and information, but regardless of our financial position we can actually have an impact on the monetary gain of others. I love it! I can't wait until my vote is worth a little more. This is leading edge possibly world changing technology and I get to be a part of it. It's ingenious. Thanks so much to the developers and thanks to everyone who read this!
I really like your post and totally agree with the wonderful social platform Steemit gives us. Sorry I can't upvote, I am too late. But my upvote is not worth anything yet. I shall keep working on it.
You are doing well considering your time here. Your reputation score is much higher than mine and I've been here months. My vote isn't worth even a penny, it will grow in time though I guess.
I just hope it doesn't loose it's potential for personal connections, seems a lot are concentrating on monetizing. I can't blame them, but selling votes and such just doesn't jive well with me. I want to say thats not what it's for, but I suppose it is.
I think it will be an interesting experiment. Give people a platform with little censorship or regulations and see what they do with it. We blame Zuckerberg for all sorts of unethical things, lets see what we do with this.
Hey @angiemitchell I missed the vote op too! Sorry @darkpurplelight for not paying proper attention. Fun fact we are still valuing from your post by the curation bit we do. Yay!
selling vote doesn't jive with @polythene.pam either. I encouraged her to check out @themarkymark latest post on that and other subjects regarding bots anyway good work everybody! creating what we want here!
🎅
Thanks! I saw that post.
Oh, heres a couple of useful links if you don't already have them. You can put in anyones name.

I enjoyed the article. Thank you! Like you, I can't wait until my vote is worth a little more, so that I can show appreciation for the posts that I enjoyed. Cheers!
You just did with your kind words, thank you!
I think we value being able to stand on our own, being resourceful and independent, but you are right.
Yes, I like to do for myself without depending on others as much as I can, never asking for what I could do for myself, but I will never ever be totally independent. even though paying, I have to rely on others for services and such just as they rely on my purchasing those services so they can pay for their services.
Funny, people complain a lot about other people and such, but when stranded on an island or whatever they freak out because there are no other people, or even a limited amount of people. I feel like I would love to be marooned, but in fact I would be yearning for company. Even if we had all the supplies we needed, we would risk our lives to find other people. We need each other not only for things we need and want, but for emotional purposes as well.
good and I'll vote you and I'll follow you I hope you do the same, we should be like the animals take care of each other
Cool, yes I think so, I'll upvote you tomorrow when my power is up more. I over voted out my power.
Nice post @darkpurplelight
Nice post, thanks for sharing.
I have been here for just over two weeks and I'm pretty excited about the place. I'm kind of telling anyone willing to listen about it.
It's hard to get started though. After the initial flurry of welcomes it went a tad quiet. Since then I have spent a lot of time trying to get to know people and add quality comments to good posts. The views I get are disappointing and I'm not getting the amount of comments on my posts that I was hoping for, yet! It's early days and my following is steadily increasing.
I agree with you, sticking together and all working to add quality to Steemit will benefit everyone in the long run. A little help from some established Steemians wouldn't go a miss too! ;)
Cheers, Gaz.
If it weren't for a couple of people here I already know, my account probably wouldn't be worth a dollar!
I see so many that if only they would vote! If I had that power I would be making peoples day. Haven't really figured it out, I know there is a reason I'm not seeing, but it seems some whales aren't worried about commenting, voting or posting. I'm glad they are doing well, but what is it they are doing to do this well? Bots? Or are they just trading? Does it cost them something? I know abut voting power, but that comes back in a day or two.
At any rate it pays more than the others and I keep hoping. It's my only chance really. I want nothing but an opportunity to earn real money, I just hope this opportunity I was so graciously given will turn out to be the break I have been waiting for. At least supplemental income. I have faith that it will work!
I think this thing is gonna spike big one day, I just hope I have enough in by then to make something. I wonder, can we switch our sd to sp when its high, then switch back when low? Wouldn't that increase the worth? Like day trading without using a third party, just switching it around..I wonder, is that the game I'm missing?
It can definitely be frustrating, especially when you have spent the best part of a day putting a post together only to get 14 views! My last post being an example.
I've tried a few re-steem competitions with mixed results. I've also entered a competition to have a whale mentor for the month. Trial and error I guess. If I find anything that really works I'll pass it on.
The Steem Power to SBD thing won't work I don't think. Mainly because SP is committed to Steemit and takes 13 weeks to pull out.
Keep going man. Your post caught my attention as well as a few others. If we accept now that we're working for the end game then It takes the immediate pressure off. One post does badly, on to the next! Same for your comments. I wrote a massive, well thought out comment to someone's post a few days ago and have had no response at all. Annoying but move on and find a whales post to comment on. :)
Stick with it.
Cheers, Gaz.
I didn't realize there was a waiting period, I haven't tried shifting anything yet, mainly because nothing to shift.:) It is getting slightly easier though.
Thanks for the motivational words, I will never give up!
Good to hear. Enjoy the ride and everything else is a bonus.

Cool thanks, finding it hard to get votes....
There, have another upvote. Yes, I can't wait until my vote is worth 2 cents but it gets easier with more followers. Sometimes, I find someone I like and then see who they follow to see if I might like them too.
I do that too, but the number of views is sometimes disheartening. I have 150 followers or so but my posts get minuscule views, I don't get that. Also I vote my but off, but only get a few in return. But that's fine, if my vote helps them it's a good thing. I am staying the course though, I can see the potential. Seems the folks who get the big bucks use all sorts of means other than posting and commenting. I don't like the idea of bots, but if that becomes the standard, I suppose it might be necessary.
I hear you. I haven't paid for any bots or joined any groups but there are a few like @followforupvotes that will just randomly upvote their followers. I think I follow 3 like that. And there are bots that follow the photography, steemstem, and music tags.
About this thing they call "quality," I have read a description (going by memory) that says something like 500 words, 3 or more photos, and reference links. Also, you should attribute photos correctly. Those are all things that a bot can find from the post's metadata before a human even looks at your post.
Speaking of sharing, I will share this advice. I use steemworld.org. It's interface is easier to follow so you know when someone responds or upvotes you, and it lets you see your reputation growing, making that less of a mystery. It lets you see when you have drained your voting power.
Set goals for yourself regarding the number of upvotes, comments, and posts. Get free photos from places like Pixabay.
That's a great link, thank you!
There are more... steemstats.com, steem.supply, steemnow.com, steemitboard.com, steemdollar.com and probably others. You will figure out what is most useful to you.
