365 Days That Count - Day 36 - Thank goodness for animals.
Having been let down by humans yesterday I decided to spend today with my animals.
I had a lie in followed by a VERY lazy morning, most of which was spent on the sofa with the dogs - I have two beautiful rescue pups called Kip and Khaya.
I found Kip on the side of the road and rescued him from a man who'd taken him away from his mum when he was just 3 weeks old - I did not pay the man, I threatened to call the police, please NEVER pay for a pup on the side of the road as it only feeds the demand for back street breeders. I raised him and 12 years later he is still my baby.
Khaya puppy eyed her way into the family about 8 years ago having been left outside DARG (Domestic Animal Rescue Group) in a black plastic bag. She is the sweetest, most loving little soul you'll ever meet. It's incredible how dogs are able to forgive and love despite all they've been through - an example for us all.
DARG is an incredible organisation, they have a no kill policy and are always desperately in need of support.

Next I went to visit Sky, my magical unicorn of a horse. I was given him off the track at 3 years old and he's turning 14 this year. We have a very special bond, he behaves more like a labrador puppy than anything else, always playing and whinnying and goofing about.
We went on a beautiful ride overlooking the sea, him bucking with happiness and me
laughing out loud with joy, by the time we got back to the stables I was as happy, calm and generally content with life as could be.
Horses have been proven to be incredibly healing, although I believe all animals are what makes a horse so powerful is that his or her energy is so much stronger than yours.
When you're around a dog and you are anxious most of the time the dog will pick up on your anxiety because your energy is stronger than theirs. When you walk into a horse's space you get over taken by their energy and when that energy is as pure and good and happy as Sky's is it really is therapy for the soul to be around it.
I'm home now and currently being cuddled by my parrot, Charlie.
I have a unique and special relationship with each of my animals. I think they know how much I love them and how much I've gone through to keep them, I promised them all a
forever home and that's what they'll get.
Today has been wonderful, I feel re-energized and ready to face and forgive the world again tomorrow - if they can, I can too.
I am so blessed and so grateful to share my life with these special creatures.
Love,
Daisy xx
