Why the sun rises from the east and sets westward?

Why the sun rises from the east? This question is not a ridiculous question. This natural phenomenon lies before us every day. The king of the solar system rises to the east and sets in the west.

For centuries people thought that the Earth was the center of the solar system. That is, heavenly bodies, including the sun, circulate around the Earth. This presumption may be reasonable because the fact is that the sun rises from the east and then moves and sets in the west. This assumption is known as geocentric theory.

But five centuries ago, in the 16th century, scientist Nicolas Copernicus, denied the geocentric theory. According to him, the sun is the center of the solar system. Planets and other celestial bodies circulate around the sun. This theory is known as heliocentric theory. This theory is still accepted until now.

Then what about the question why the sun rises from the east? The earth, the planet we live in, revolves around the sun from west to east. As a result, the sun rises from the east and sinks to the west. As we see every day, the movement of the sun from east to west is actually a pseudo-movement, an improper motion. This is called the daily solar motion.

However, not all planets rotate east as Earth. Some of them just turn in the opposite direction. Among the approximately 500 planets known to encircle stars other than the sun, most of the planet seems to be spinning in the same direction as the star. In a report published in the journal Nature, astronomers claim that some extrasolar planets rotate in the opposite direction of the star they are roving.

The rotating planet is generally a giant gas planet, like Jupiter, not a rock-like planet like Earth. Astronomers call the phenomenon of revolving it with the term orbit upside down. In addition to its rotating rotation backwards, the big planets are close to their stars.
