"Don't start your day with the broken pieces of yesterday. Every morning we wake up is the first day of the rest of our life." ~unknown

We've all heard the second line - about today being the first day of the rest of our life, but  what about the first line?

Don't start your day with the broken pieces of yesterday.

What are your broken pieces from yesterday?

I'm not minimizing struggles or tough stuff we go through. I know life is hard. What I am saying is that if you couldn't repair the brokenness yesterday, leave it there. Solutions will come eventually...you'll be okay.

Putting back the broken pieces isn't always a good idea anyhow, some pieces might be missing.

Not everything broken can be fixed.

Sometimes those pieces can be reassembled and something beautiful can be recreated.

Today is new and fresh and we can experience it without holding onto those shards from yesterday.

We can have both the struggle and the joy.

Yesterday's broken pieces are like eating "old bread".

Today is a new day.  It's whole, un-lived, unbroken, unwritten.

Have a new day everyone!

a lot of wisdom here, countrygirl - I'm one of those rainy day people who prefer broken cookies to whole ones. Nothing is ever perfect....everyone struggles to guard their heart from breaking, when they should desire to have a heart that breaks. Well, that's the way I see it. Good writing here. An excellent, thought-provoking post

Thanks @johnjgeddes for taking time to critique and comment. I like hearing how others interpret what I say and learning about them.

you're welcome countrygirl :)

BTW, I almost over-looked the final pic.- that seemed to sum up your whole post. The ever-widening circles of meaning rippling outward. That's what good writing does - it precipitates an experience, and then echoes in the soul. A well chosen photo :)

Thanks. I was trying to convey a new day with the clear glassy water being touched by the green plant - which represents a life. A little esoteric mayhaps, but I liked it.

not at all - the vortex image is always a very powerful symbol

Nice post @countrygirl and it rings true!!!

Thank you....and thanks for resteeming this.

Deep thoughtful post!

about today being the first day of the rest of our life"
I'll share this portuguese music, "hoje é o primeiro dia do resto da tua vida!" (today is the first day of the rest of our life). One of my favorite ones!

I can picture you dancing around your kitchen as you cook to this music. Thanks for sharing your video.

Never done that (with this music), but can imagine it's possible ;)

If you try it, and are using your electric beater - promise you'll dance in one spot of I might be responsible for the batter blast on your walls and ceiling ....lol

No no no, I don't want to clean that messy thing! Sometimes I do sing a little, but in a controlled way! I'm already a little clumsy without singing and dancing! ;)
