Musk and Bezos taking over the world --- good or bad thing?

in #life7 years ago

Ever feel like there's a "take over the world" competition going on?

Whether it's Bezos or Musk or the Koch brothers...it seems like there's more and more consolidation going on. Amazon has made headlines lately for buying Wholefoods and is now in talks with #slack.

I mean all's fair in love and acquisitions. The question is, whether or not this is ultimately good for the consumer. I feel like eventually, we'll be buying our stuff from three people.

I'm no expert, but I feel like this will continue to push forward two big trends. First we'll see further consolidation across many industries. Bezos and Musk....they just know how to make things better and more efficient. They have the capital....there's no reason for them to not strategically expand their holdings and influence.

They're both moving in to cool areas like organic food, space travel, electric cars, underground tunnels.

So is their continued reach a good or bad thing?

Local Makers

The second big trend that I think will continue, is the increased value of local "makers." When people want to go for efficiency...they'll go to the big guys. But when people have time, choice, money, they'll go with someone more local, knowable and "authentic."

What do you think? What are the categories where the "makers" will win, and where will the "world dominators" win?

better than Trump and Hillary.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

has to be a bad thing ..no??

In a lot of areas yes.... in some areas...I say if someone can do it better, cheaper, easier....no harm in helping us all out.
