A Warm Aloha From Chicago! (And a touch of thought on Ted Bundy)
Aloha Steemians!
I'm 28 years old. First and foremost, I'm the mother to a wonderful, energetic boy! I've been married for two years to my best friend, who was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have been in the United States Navy for nine years as a Language Analyst, but I'm currently on special duty as a Drill Instructor (in Navy lingo = Recruit Division Commander) at Navy Bootcamp!
Most of my days consist of training recruits and catching up with family, so Steemit, for me, is sort of an avenue to get an random thoughts or feelings out. I'm super excited to explore this new platform, and welcome all to become part of my reader "ohana" ("family" in Hawaiian).
So! Let's just get to business. Before I got bed, I just want to ramble a little about my latest Netflix rabbit hole - "Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bunny Tapes."
Ted Bundy. The name is synonymous with the term Serial Killer. I never knew very many details about him except for that he brutally murdered dozens of women in the 1970s. Watching this series documentary shed so much light on the monster he was and how the law enforcement/justice system was super flawed. I won't go into every detail, but the biggest surprise to me was that he escaped law enforcement...TWICE! The first time, he was missing for six days in Aspen. The second time, he was missing for 46 days, and during that time, committed horrendous murders in Florida. It's sad to think that it took society these hard lessons to become more vigilant, efficient, and secure. I haven't really heard of any case as horrible as Ted Bundy's in my recent memory, and I hope to God that a monster like him never enters the world again, but humans are humans.
Maybe people are smarter about their moves today...insert chills here
Goodnight!
