DON'T LOOK DOWN. THESE ARE THE SCARIEST BRIDGES IN THE WORLD.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemit friends,

Imagine walking through a wooden bridge above raging waterfalls and the bridge threatens to break. It has been haphazardly connected to some rusty nails and you took a chance and decided to cross it. After some attempts to make yourself as light as possible, it gives out and now you are helplessly dangling and holding on to a wooden piece, too scared to look below you. This sounds like the plot of a horror movie.

So we bring you the list of 10 bridges that would scare you to death. A bridge is supposed to connect you from one place to another. However, these bridges also pay another role. To scare you!

1. Kuandinsky Bridge of Kuanda, Russia

This is a very scary bridge that does not have any railings to protect cars from swerving off. Back in the day, it was designed as a railway bridge and it is a whooping 570 meters long above the Vitim River. During winter, the bridge becomes so slippery and vehicles can easily fall into the freezing waters below.

2. Titlis Cliff Walk, Engelberg, Switzerland

This is a cliff walk that is a scary 1,500 ft above a Swiss alps glacier. It is on Mt Titlis. It is Europe's highest suspension bridge and it needs someone courageous to brave it. The suspension bridge is so strong that it can withstand strong winds of up to 120 miles/h. People have also cited this as the worlds scariest bridge.

3. Aiguille du Midi Bridge, France

This is within the French Alps and it is a very short bridge but very scary. However, the breathtaking views may cure your acrophobia. You can get here using a cable car and it is not for the faint hearted.

4. Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado.

This is America's highest suspension bridge. The bridge is 880 feet long and cars are sometimes allowed to cross the bridge. In June 2013, there was a wildfire but it did not destroy the bridge. This bridge is also not for the faint hearted.

5. The Vine Bridges of Iya Valley, Japan

These bridges have existed for hundreds of years and no one knows exactly who built them. Locals try to keep them alive by improving, renovating and strengthening them. They are 45 feet high and sway with every step which makes them even more scarier.

6. Glass Skywalk, Tianmenshan National Forest Park, China

This bridge is glass bottomed and you can view Hunan's mountainous landscapes. It is scary but somehow, the views make it more bearable.

7. Trift Suspension Bridge, Switzerland

This is another suspension bridge on the alps. It was built for pedestrians and hikers but it would swing and sway in the wind. Efforts to make it more sturdy have been underway.
