How to stop being shy in under a minute
Be it a family gathering or a networking event, we all have faced situations in our life when we just don't have the muscle to pull ourselves up and talk to people.
When you are in such situations, try this little hack. Results are quite surprising!
First, Stop trying to do anything and let yourself suck (20-30 seconds) (Reboot)
Second, Get into your body (20-30 sec) - specifically arms (open and stretch your arms), voice (deep breathe and hum or active listen ), eyes and smile (look them in the eye and make eye contact with others)
Finally, Speak immediately with someone receptive and nearby (3-5 sec) (seal it)
You can say anything you want, but if you are feeling tongue tied here are 2 starters:
If you do not know the person, “Hey, whatsup, I don’t think we’ve met yet. I am xxx”
With people you already know, “Hey, this is totally random, …. and then say whatever you want
