Weekend Chores
This last Saturday, I had a list of things to get done around the house. One of those was to clean the gutters, which I noticed had been sagging after the storm. I let them dry out, and noticed that they were half full with dirt. So the wife and I got out the shot vac, and started breaking up the dirt clumps so they could be sucked up. It took us about 40 minutes, and then I had to re-secure them, and get the slope right for them to drain. But the thing that shocked me was the amount of dirt in them, I weighed the first bucket, and it was 45 pounds, there were 2 more after that one. I could not believe that we had over 100 pounds of dirt in the gutters. Looks like I will need to clean them more often.
I also need to clean my gutter
I am always shocked at how much crap seems to be in them that you wouldn't expect. I get the leaves and debris from trees but where does all that dirt come from. You might have a little more from the blowing sand I'm guessing? I have a commercial pressure washer that I use for my exterior painting jobs that does a great job of blasting all that crap out of the gutters. Sadly, you have reminded me of a job that I must do. LOL
Our gutters are 30' off the ground so the gutter guards were worth it. The doubled the cost, but never get clogged. I was too cheap to do the same on my workshop and have to muck them out twice a year. Once in the fall after the leaves drop and again in the spring after the oak pollen drops.
Watching the first rain gushing out of the downspouts after a gutter cleaning is very satisfying, though.
Damn dude, that's gotta be more than a years worth.... Isn't it?
