B.C. wildfire status Thursday: Wildfires grow levelling close to 600,000 hectares. Entering its 4th week, no end in sight.
B.C. remains under a state of emergency as about 154 wildfires continue to burn across the province.
About 44,000 British Columbians registered as evacuees during one of the worst wildfire seasons in B.C.’s history. Premier John Horgan has now extended the state of emergency by two weeks to the end of day on Aug. 4.
The map is accurate as of 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27, although the wildfire situation may change at any time. The larger flames on the map are considered “wildfires of note.”

The B.C. Wildfire Service says it is preparing for a very busy few days ahead and it is expecting a number of new fires to start.

I saw today on the news when I was out -- that there are at LEAST 15 new fires, that they are even aware of!!!
.... There are still 300 firefighters on the front lines in just ONE region, building fuel breaks and trying to protect homes. The fires are crossing some of those barriers.
A rapidly moving fire near Monte Lake, east of Kamloops, forced two evacuation orders Wednesday night covering 60 properties, and prompted the Thompson-Nicola Regional District to declare a local state of emergency. A further 58 properties are under an evacuation alert.
The wildfire, burning along Highway 97, has now grown to more than 150 hectares. It was spotted Wednesday afternoon and is still threatening homes but has calmed down since Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, fire officials said crews had some success overnight and the winds died down, which was good news.
The weather will not be helping matters.
Global BC meteorologist Yvonne Schalle says today there is still the chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the central interior.
“The Columbia and Kootenay region though, late in the day, especially for the southern interior, the winds [will gust] anywhere between 20 and 40 km/h,” she said.
“We are not seeing any reprieve for our temperatures as it is warming up for the southern interior. Temperatures into the 30s can be expected.”

Mainstream media is good for something once in awhile.
Let us keep these people in BC in our prayers.
British Columbia may ask for more help if its wildfires worsen, the western Canadian province said on Friday after the federal government sent 225 additional soldiers to battle blazes that have been spreading rapidly in hot, dry weather.

Come on people --- quit with the spammy crap comments and say a prayer or something helpful here for a province of people suffering!
Come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One day my down vote will be worth enough to blank them out of the section!
Wow. I hope they can get things under control. Wildfires are so dangerous under some weather conditions. We had horrible wildfires a few hours from where I live last year. It was three weeks of fires popping up all over the place. The air outside my house was filled with smoke so that I couldn't be outside much at times. A nearby town lost over 1,000 homes and businesses. It was some scary stuff.
Please consider sharing this post and thanks for the nice comments here.

Good post @barrydutton.. upvoted and resteemed..
I actually see that you did RS this to help spread word, since these fires are spreading chaos.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't even begin to imagine the terror going through peoples minds when they sarw fire approaching it must have been awful. Imagine losing everything you own including your house,I don't know what I would do.My heart goes out to all the families who were affected.
Please consider sharing this post and thanks for the nice comments here.
Lived in Kamloops from 2009-2013 and was very involved in assisting those who were forced out of their homes during that time - terrible ordeal - our Prayers are with everyone involved. Thank you for the excellent update and coverage. Will definetly resteem and follow. Blessings
Thanks for the share and the comments, Canada goes under most peoples' radars most of the time, I get it.
We are all one big family really.
Thanks again
My prayers go out to those being affected by such a dangerous situation. Living in a state that deals with lots of wild fires I know how fast they can get out of control, and even more how fast you find yourself in danger.
I hope your elder population and those with breathing issues are able to be relocated for the time being in a healthier environment. They tend to be often under looked after and forgot in situations like this. Smoke fills entire neighborhoods and causes them great discomfort and more health problems. If you happen to know anyone who fits this description in your area that is dealing with wildfires please be kind and check up on them. They often times do not have someone in their life to make sure they are ok during events like this.

I like post you.

I just checked your history. Funny you have perfect English in this comment, but most of the others are gibberish. You're greedy AND lazy.
You are also, now, muted. Good job!
I dislike your comment even worse you upvoted your own spam.
Dude, that needs to be reported most likely --- it is the same vote draining trails following all their comments, 4 accts so far. Sigh
4 accounts is nothing. I’ve found 1.5k, 3k ones that upvote spam comments. All we can do is work on our little neck of the woods. Some of these people already have low rep and I assume they plagiarized and got caught.
