Benefits from `Reading between the lines’

in #life7 years ago

Great inventors’ tool! Often we miss the point and become blasé and nonchalant as to what people are essentially saying. And lose out on helpful intellectual stuff.

We think we know everything on a certain subject.

Until someone pops up with a gem-atom light-bulb WOW-moment, a fact that puts `a spanner into the works’. So it’s important that we become more alert to what others are actually implying or talking about.

There is so much out there we can learn from:

If we just stop and `read between the lines’, we will come up with new concepts or theory we hadn’t even really thought about before. It could be mind-blowing stuff… that could perhaps change your life and style of doing things more effectively.

  • I’ve learnt such a lot from thinking more deeply about what I’ve read or heard. And then take time out to try it out for myself. Whether it worked or not, I still get something out of it. From the experience of experimenting with it, I’ve gained a better understanding of the facts behind the theory and how it really works physically.

When I listen to someone expounding on a certain topic, I listen with `baited-breathe’ (hanging onto every word they say). I ask myself, “Is there something here I can learn from this?”

It’s a learning curve:

  • Sometimes a speaker has difficulty in expressing themselves articulately to get their point across. Or they haven’t fully realized the real implications behind what they are saying. That’s when I listen more carefully, to pick out the factual atom lying within what they are saying.
  • Then you get a` dry’ boring book on technology, that’s perhaps far beyond anyone’s understanding, and the `words just go over your head.’ What do you do then?
  • I have one of those books. The writer is so technical with his long winded description, he misses the point. The author stretches the actual nitty-gritty of the facts over many chapters. He doesn’t introduce the book or the chapters with bold statements, so we all can understand what’s expected or coming next.
  • You have to wade through all that he says and then break it down into precise condensed logical facts. To be able to do this, one has to make abridged notes. Putting it into simple short sentences and terms makes it easier to understand. Even turning it into simple diagrams or mind-maps makes it more logical.

Innovative inventors:

The fact is: That is how inventors have invented fantastic new technology and appliances, etc.

  1. Inventors took old and tried theories and `read between the lines to come up with new designs.
  2. They used their imaginations, senses and emotions to think more deeply on theories and supposed facts they had gathered.
  3. By re-arranging and throwing out some of those old facts, they bridged fundamental concepts.
  4. And adding new concepts and using new strategies to make it work more effectively.

It’s a technique we can acquire:

Never take things for granted. Think about things more deeply. Look more carefully at things around you. `Stop and smell the roses’. You’ll be surprised at what you find.

Then make it fit your visionary concept or project. I’m always overwhelmed by the stunning things people re-cycled beautifully in craft shops. Their imagination is so fantastic, it blows my mind!

Listening more carefully to what people are actually saying. You never can tell, you could possibly even learn something dynamic from people who you previous considered uneducated or somewhat boring. Why, because everyone has experienced something, that perhaps you haven’t experienced or considered important before.

Benefits:

  • Your genius observance will enhance and enrich your life.
  • Your world will open up profoundly. Education will become a breeze.
  • You’ll gain more friends by listening more carefully.
  • If you’re a shy person, you’ll find it more easily to participate.
  • The whole world around you will become stunning, because you’ll see beauty in everything.
  • You will enjoy life more. Have more fun. Laugh more.

Have you been reading between the lines?

What have you discovered?

Wow, what a great post. To be honest, I was drifting in and out of interest in the beginning of it but much to your point, I was finding little gems of truth in your text.

Also, and finally, I really appreciate the way you word your work. I'm eager to read more of what you write!

I know it's important to get to the point quickly. But then again, some people aren't familiar with your subject, and need to be drawn down a fact-gathering path, to understand the full impact of the ultimate concept behind the theory. The thing is to have a few gems scatter along that path of understanding.

Excellent write up! By reading between the lines, I tend to be able to boil things down to the most essential point of the topic and find its true underlying factors or motivations.

I loved what you said. You put it in a nutshell That's what I do. Assessing what's been said, as it is happening, getting down to the gritty bits, the concise facts that actually hold the whole 'talk' together.

Truly a great post and so a wakeup call :0)
I love reading peoples posts and here are so many amazing people with different knowledge about different things and I wouldnt wanna miss out on that.
I have learned so much on my time here and if something isnt clear.....cant read between the lines I read again and that useally helps :0)
Thx for sharing. Followed resteemed

Yes. We learn such a lot from each other.
But have you ever thought about those people who see opportunities and run with it and get rich. While the rest of us never see opportunities! It could be because they read between the lines!!

Ur right it could be :0)

Interesting article...an eye opener with great tips. I will start looking at things from lots of different angles so that I can read between the lines better. Thank you for sharing :) Keep steeming

'Reading between the lines' is more than just reading, its having to desire to learn. So much so, that we are willing to see what others don't see or care enough about. Why do we do it? I would say it's a thirst for knowledge, that gives us such a thrill, like going on an exciting adventure, "what can I learn next!......"

very good post

Thanks. It makes one think more carefully about what we read or hear doesn't it!
