People will always tell you who they are. Believe them the first time.
We humans are a silly species. Nowhere in nature will you find a creature who will willingly walk into an uneasy situation.
It's late at night, the streets are quiet. A lone woman in a parking garage presses the elevator button. The door opens and she gets a queasy feeling in her stomach. A harsh man with many scars stares at her from a blank face. Her adrenaline pumps and her heart thunders through her chest. But she fears looking like a fool so she steps into the elevator.
The above snippit is a little off topic, however it shows how people can easily put aside their instincts and feelings based upon how they want to appear to others, or due to loneliness, or even to get ahead in the world.
People will always show you who they truly are the first time. The problem is we have a tendency to ignore facts and little things and accept and even fall in love with the idea of the people we build up in our mind.
We quite literally create what we need them to be, ignoring who they really are. Even when it's glaringly obvious in our face.
the little things always end up being big things
Sooner or later the reality crashes down upon our human opus, and the inevitable pain smashes a little bit of our heart. Unfortunately that crash is usually pretty hard.
From those you consider doing business with to people you are considering allowing into your heart and life, try to remove the rose colored glasses and remain objective, so as to clearly have full view of their true face before damage is done and it's too late.
Every human has an innate need to show you their true colors. Only, be sure to not put much weight in their words. Words are simply a mask. Pay attention to their actions. Actions speak louder than words.
And always listen to your instincts, they will never wear a mask.

Quick read with good advice. It is hard to trust your instinct at times, though. Most of the time... :)

Hello, and welcome! Great to meet you :)
These are amazing facts about life and im glad you decided to share it with the community. Our species truely are something else and just as you have written in your lovely post, we humans always tend to see what we want to see not in just people but also in other important stuffs like opportunities, marriages and so on. I believe in what you have said as in being able to trust your instincts at all times.
I am happy you enjoyed it :)
Have a wonderful day!
Very true. I am trying to create this feeling within my audience. Abandon social ideals and listen to your instincts because they are 100% correct 100% of the time.
Yes! The only times I get in trouble are when I don't listen to my instincts.
Precisely right :)
A piece of advice I heard goes hand in glove with this: don't listen to what people say, watch what they do
YES! Exactly! One cannot disguise "muscle memory"
I think we are all still learning ourselves. Instinct is important. I am also someone that had to transform from what may have been a darker side. Still a work in progress. While it's good to listen to the guy, we also want to make sure we don't put so many gates as we don't become closed minded people or become a society who is trained to instinctively have a fence up. Good post.
Perhaps it's because we are becoming more and more closed off to the face to face society, and we want those we meet to be what we need so badly that we gloss them and shiny them up so quickly...
