This word of charity
This day and age
I've come to notice that in our day most people will think of only what they need and want instead of thinking of others, I even see how some people will bring down others to get what they want, how people in power will do what they want without thinking about the repercussions it has on others. During this week I thought of all these things that happen in our day and age and came to a conclusion that in our day very few people still believe in the word charity, what is the true meaning of this word?
Here is the worlds definition of charity, there are three:
1: an organisation set up to provide help in raising money for those in need.
2: the voluntary giving of help, typically in the form of money, to those in need.
3: Kindness and tolerance in judging others.
These are the world's views on charity and I am sorry to say that I agree with none of them, due to the fact that charity should not be the giving of just money to others or just be kind when we judge, in fact we have no right to judge, not one of us on this planet is perfect, so we are unable to judge others, yet we all do and this leads to us becoming less and less perfect, though I do believe that all these relate to the true meaning of charity.
Now I would like to look at how the scriptures describe the word charity and see how it differs from the world's description.
In the Bible Dictionary it says:
The highest, noblest, strongest kind of love, not merely affection; the pure love of Christ.
In this short and powerful sentence it tells us what charity is, it is the pure love of Christ, Christ himself died for each and everyone of us, this is the love that he had for each and everyone of us and this is the love that we must have for our fellow brethren.
In conclusion I wrote this poem while thinking about this, here it is:
Lost Word of Charity
A simple word indeed,
the word known as charity,
this word may be small,
yet has a place in all.
Though in our cruel reality,
no one thinks of charity.
We think only of ourselves
and place this word on the shelves.
Our lives are full of pride,
hands are always tied,
by all the things we need to do,
yet charity would like a part to.
Why do we never let this word
enter in our thoughts each day,
It would only like to be heard,
to try improve our lives each day.
