In this last section of Chapter 5 we will discuss the gestures of rubbing or patting the head.
Gestures of rubbing your head or patting on it
1.-Rub the nape of the neck with the palm:
This gesture is the exaggerated version of pulling the collar of the shirt, called by Calero as "Pain in the Neck". Its application takes place under two scenarios:
• When the person is lying. It is usually accompanied by other gestures such as avoiding direct gaze, specifically looking down.
• The person feels angry or frustrated, so they slap the nape of the neck and then proceed to rub it.
This gesture indicates forgetfulness, but also shows how the person feels about you or a situation, and this depends on the position taken when hitting the forehead or neck.
• If you slap your forehead, it is a reflection that the person does not feel intimidated by you or by the situation.
• If you slap your neck, you are saying that you are a "headache" in body language, perhaps because you have pointed out an error or failure.
According to the literature;
- Those who rub their nails have tendencies to be negative and to criticize.
- Those who rub their foreheads to avoid verbalizing an error, are more open people and with whom they work more easily.
