Becoming a Game Developer! How hard it really is?

in #life6 years ago

Nothing is hard if you like doing it, or at least it is easier if you enjoy it. While becoming a Game Developer requires you to learn some programming, like the basics, syntax and rules, it's not that hard. You can do this by getting some beginner tutorials in C / C++ / Python etc.

Once you get some knowledge, you can start getting into learning how to create games, there are a few Engines that you can use, I'd suggest you try Unity3D, it has a nice and well structured documentation, plenty of tutorials and guides, and nice series on youtube. Unity allows you to export games to Consoles/PC/Mac/Web/VR. With that many things about Unity online, some of you could actually start directly with a few youtube series, where you create games from scratch and learn different components and systems to build.

Here's a short list of cool youtubers where you can learn plenty of things.

Brackeys
Sykoo
Mort Mort
Blackthornprod

And there are many more, you can simply search on Youtube something that you'd like to create in Unity and you find similar games with similar systems and how to implement them.

Another engine that you can use is Unreal Engine, but that's more complicated to use.

If you want to make games without coding anything, there are a few web platforms that allow you to create games without coding.

Quickappninja
Thunkable
Appsgeyser

If you ever wanted to create even a small game, feel free to use one of the websites above and give it a try, it might increase your confidence and who knows, you'll be changing your road to becoming a game developer.
