The two-day International Literary Conference begins

The two-day international literary conference started today with the initiative of Bangla Academy as part of the Amar Ekushey celebration.
The main theme of the conference is 'Recent Literature of South Asia'.

Over a hundred writers, academics and researchers from six countries including Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan attended the conference.
Presenting the keynote paper at the inauguration of the conference, Abdul Karim Sahityabisarad auditorium of Bangla Academy was present in the morning. Fakrul Alam Director General of Bangla Academy Professor Shamsuzzaman Khan delivered welcome speech. Radha Chakraborty, translator and researcher of India took part in the discussion. In the original article Fakhrul Alam said that in the last one and a half centuries, many creative writers in South Asia have gifted their literature and strengthened their position in world literature. All these writers have published Bengali literature in Bengali, English and Hindi, and presented them all over the world. There are many great writers in this region who are doing literary work in different languages ​​- many of them poems and novels are very high.

The main theme of this two-day conference is to select the current literature of South Asia and to inform the citizens and the readers of the region about the condition of the writers and their literary practices in this region.
Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam said that there was a huge work of classical tradition in Bangla literature, but many of them are not being translated into other languages ​​because people of another language can not read it. For the same reason we can not even find many classical literature of the Telugu language of India. This conference is expected to fulfill our needs in the future due to the Bangla Academy.
