When you take into account that the government only exists to protect the rights of the people, the whole thing does seem incredibly absurd in light of the tyranny.
Government claims that it exists to "protect the rights of the people," but in every aspect of its operation, it necessarily tramples those same rights it claims to protect. The tyranny is the true nature of The State revealed.

I think the problem is far deeper than just blaming Rome, London, and D.C. or whichever other states you have in mind. The problem is the religious faith in the legitimacy of government power in the minds of the majority of people, because without that idea being accepted, the powers-that-be have no power at all.
