Barbers Shouldn't Be Licensed Either

I read this and chuckled because Illinois, and Chicago specifically are so deep in the fail sauce when it comes to gun control and everything else it isn't even funny anymore. No firearms dealers shouldn't have to subject themselves into getting yet another license to operate a business. Neither should barbers you economic illiterate! Licensure impedes competition and the ability of regular people to starting their own businesses. No, licensure does not protect the consumer. No, licensure doesn't make businesses deal with the public fairly.

Enjoy your socialist utopia while it lasts, like Venezuela, and everyone else who has tried socialism, it will fail and spectacularly so. I know, I know...

In the absence of state licensing there would no doubt still be various third party auditing, certifications and various organizations that set standards for industries - voluntarily.

Yes! We already have Underwriters Laboratory, ASTM, and some others that I can’t think of off hand. Not only that, but the market is the most vicious judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to bad actors as well. It really doesn’t make sense for licensing people who cut hair. What am I being protected from, a bad haircut?

Occupational licensing is extortion!

Licenses are one of the most absurd concepts. Basically the thing is ok but only if you get permission from a higher authority. Either it is ok or it isn't stop it. Granted licenses have always been a great way to keep the disadvantaged from shooting back at the lynch mobs.

The way to make business operate more fairly would be to have as much competition as possible so that failures or shortcomings are penalized more harshly by the consumers
