Nope, same-sex couples marrying has not destroyed marriage nor America
On June 26, 2015, a little over two and a half years ago, the Supreme Court's ruling made it possible for couples to marry regardless of gender, none of the terrible things that opponents predicted have come true:
- Heterosexual couples are still marrying and having children.
- The percentage of homosexual, bisexual and gender non-compliant/transgender people have not dramatically increased.
- Most people are not confused about sexual orientation or gender identity though people still do conflate those things.
- Pedophilia is still illegal and does not appear to be on the rise.
- Americans may actually be more comfortable with a variety of non-traditional relationships including relationships involving more than two people. It may be possible that this may lead to legal status for such relationships. However, presently, a marriage may only consist of two people -- letting same gender couples marry has not led to polygamist or group marriage.
- You still cannot marry a dog or cat in America.
- You cannot marry a table.
- You cannot marry a child even with the child's guardian's consent.
- God has not yet seen fit to destroy America.
- A giant comet or asteroid has not destroyed America.
- A disease, great fire, or flood have not destroyed America.
- Men are still marrying women. Women are still marrying men. Heterosexual couples married and unmarried are still producing biological offspring.
Gay couples have been able to marry for a little over two and a half years and so far none of the bad things that opponents said would happen have happened.
