My 2020 Lent Life - Day 1

in #lent5 years ago (edited)

Lent is here again. It is the time of year when fasting and abstinence happens, just like how our Muslim brothers and sisters do so during the month of Ramadhan. Unlike them, we don't need to just fast, but give up something that tempts us each and every day, like Facebook, Twitter, television or even chocolate.

Within the next 40 days, I will be chronicling my life living the 40 days of fasting, and ultimately moving myself to live a more holy and religious life.

Last night, BabyBoo (wifey), my mom and I went to the Ash Wednesday mass that was held to receive ashes on our forehead to signify the start of the Lent season that will culminate and end during Easter Sunday on the 12th of April 2020.

Though our mass was ended abruptly because of an emergency and didn't get the ashes on our forehead, I still am happy that I was at church and this post begins my 40 days of fasting and also abstinence. I am giving up sleep. Once and again, I am going to give up something I really love.

Sleep and dreaming.

I will get 5-8 hours of sleep for the next 40 days. Get my fasting done, and do lots of work. I mean lots of it.

I don't know how many times I have said things and never did it.

But I didn't try doing things like my life depends on it in the past. I think I am going to do it this time around.

It's already the 2nd day at 12 midnight here in warm Malaysia. Politics in Malaysia just went topsy turvy. I don't know what is going on right now.

The prime minister just stepped down and then became interim prime minister. If people want him back, he will be back. I have no idea what that means because if he left already, he is coming back again? Really??? I totally have no clue what is going to happen. Other than Lent is here and that we should pray for a better Malaysia. So I will fast for Malaysia this Lent.

Lent is a time to live a more religious life and getting ourselves closer to God.

I will be working hard not only at work, but also in my spiritual life that I have neglected for far too long.

I don't have to go to daily mass to do so like I thought I should.

All I got to do is pray, meditate, read scripture and focus on what God wants for me.

I hope by the end of this Lent, I will be far closer and stronger than I can ever be.

Let's go through this Lent together if you are a brother or sister out there who also is Christian.

Looking forward to connecting with you.

Take care and God bless.
