Lego City Space 60226 Mars Research Shuttle how to construct step by step with instructions Part #1 of 3
Although we have a great desire to build LEGO and know the brand almost always, I came across a question when we started building this model. Who is LEGO? We went looking for and found several surprises that we will describe during the assembly of this model.
The history of LEGO began in the Danish woodworking workshop in 1932 and lasted until the 21st century as a popular and lucrative construction toy, including LEGO board games, retail stores, LEGO video games and LEGO movies.
The LEGO Group started in the woodworking workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark. In 1916, Christiansen bought a carpentry shop in Billund, which has been in business since 1895. This shop mainly helps build houses and furniture, and has a small number of apprentices. In 1924, a fire ignited some shavings and burned down the workshop. Ole Kirk built a larger workshop and is committed to further expanding his business. When the Great Depression broke out, Ole Kirk had fewer clients and had to focus on smaller projects. He started to produce miniature versions of products as design aids. It was these miniature models of ladders and ironing boards that inspired him to start producing toys.
On August 10, 1932, Ole Kirk's shop began manufacturing wooden toys, such as piggy banks, pull toys, cars and trucks, and houses. Due to the Great Depression, the business could not be profitable. Farmers in the area sometimes exchange food in exchange for his toys. In addition to continuing to operate toys, Ole Kirk continues to produce practical furniture. In the mid-1930s, the popularity of yo-yo toys made him temporarily increase his activity until he suddenly disappeared. In order to reduce waste, Ole Kirk used the remaining yo-yo parts as the wheels of the toy truck. His son Godtfred started working for him and played an active role in the company.
In 1934, Ole Kirk held a competition among its employees to name the company and offered a bottle of homemade wine as a reward. Christiansen himself considered two names, namely "Leggio" (meaning "Toy Legion") and "LEGO", which is a self-made abbreviation of the Danish phrase "leg Goth", which means "have fun." Later, the LEGO team discovered that "LEGO" might be roughly interpreted as "I put together" or "I assemble" in Latin. Ole Kirk chose LEGO, and the company started using it on its products.
The story continues in the next construction.......
