A romantic version of the legend states that Vlad Dracula
A romantic version of the legend states that Vlad Dracula is a Romanian ruler from the middle of the 15th century who was honest and just, but he enforced many cruel punishments even for minor offenses. He often fought with the Turks and treated them cruelly.
During one of his military campaigns, his much-loved wife received a letter informing her that Vlad was killed on the battlefield. The letter was fake and fabricated by his enemies, but his beloved did not know this, and he committed suicide by jumping from the tower of the castle.
He failed to arrive in time to save her, but the sorrow of her loss caused him to change. He became even more cruel to his enemies, and because of the bloody revenge he took, he began to say he drank blood. Because of the enormous atrocities that people put on, his name became the symbol of their greatest nightmares.
Bran Castle is a museum-fortress where the famous story of Count Dracula, the vampire, is born. The construction of the two defensive towers was completed in 1622-1625. The castle is built on the top of a cliff, it has the shape of a trapeze. Bran Castle has served as a kind of strategic four-level defensive fortress. These levels are connected by stairs. Inside a mysterious maze, corridors and halls are interwoven. There is a well in the courtyard of the castle, which can not fail to attract attention. According to the legend, the well leads to a dungeon.
The castle became known as "Dracula's Castle" barely thirty years ago when tourists from all over the world flocked to find evidence of the vampire Count Dracula. And so tourists discover the ancient castle located at the entrance of Transylvania, at the very top of the rock. Bran Castle is very similar to the one described in Bram Stoker's Dracula novel.
