(My first visit to Ancestry Headquarters in Lehi, Utah! Pictured here with some of my teammates.)

What's good with the world of STEEM?! I've been away for quite some time, between the Ancestry Internship I just wrapped up, the transition from homeschooling my children to placing them into school and wrapping up my EP for release and digital distribution, I just could not find the time to connect here like I've been wanting to..but man do I have so much to share!

So the internship at Ancestry has finally come to an end. I am truly grateful for the opportunity I was granted to learn and strengthen my skills at production level. Truly an experience I won't ever forget. I was able to work on not one, but two amazing teams. One with a focus on front end and one with a focus on SEO. With this team, it was more of an observational experience than a hands on one, but I learned so much just by watching them on any given day. The way they split their work between each member. The way they planned and worked through their sprints (ie, their workflow). It was amazing! And a little intimidating--as I was surrounded by folks who had been in this field for 10 plus years! And here I am feeling like a freshman scrub lol. It was exciting and humbling to be among such talented and skilled engineers.

The frontend team, was more my current speed and where I was able to do majority of my hands on work while with Ancestry. I built overlays and landing pages for various geos who were launching different marketing campaigns. It was cool, and I learned so much as to what a production level landing page should look like. I was able to strengthen my css skills in this role as well. Positioning elements became something I was able to get more comfortable doing than I was before. And when it was all said and done, I was ready to completely redesign my personal project Frisco Rap Scene lol.

Other cool highlights include getting to visit Headquarters in Lehi, Utah not once, but twice! The first occasion was for the annual company conference. They had a hackathon, breakout sessions and offsite activities that allowed us to explore more of the Lehi land. it was absolutely breathtaking. The second occasion, I was flown out for a two day Agile Development training. This training was so useful. I'm grateful to have receive such a costly training free of charge!

(During my visit to Lehi, I was able to check out the Homestead Caldera in Midway, Utah. Here I am sitting directly on top of it!)

And to think, all these opportunities. All of theses chances to learn and grow and level up. To experience beyond what was my present reality. And to make some great money while doing so has been something that has changed my life. And all in the course of a years time. I can remember when I began blogging here, that was the beginning of me documenting this journey. To have come this far in such a short amount of time is a trip. Just amazing. It inspires me every day to keep going. To continue on this journey I have chosen for myself. One that has allowed me to open myself up beyond my comfort zone and spread my wings. Its allow me to explore who I am and to tap into parts of myself that were laying dormant. I am forever grateful. Here's to more learning, more goal setting and more coding!
