What does it take to lead?
What does it take to give? What does it take to lead? What does it to accept a responsibility?
Giving is about respect. You don't just give for the sake of giving. With what you give, you pay respect to the receiver. The argument that says: "They should be thankful that I have given them something," is not the heart of giving. It also follows that when you give, you don't have to expect anything in return, you just give.
Taking the lead means accepting the responsibility, the prestige maybe, and everything (all the shit) that comes with it. It comes in a package. You don't just get to accept the leading part without accepting the responsibility that comes with it. When you make the right call, you get the credit; even there's is a team that helped you do it. You make the hard decisions and if it blows up, you take the responsibility and you also take the blame. You are not supposed to pin the blame or the failure to others because you are on the lead. You don't get to prioritize "me" over "us". You give inspiration to others; you engage your people in your plans.
There will be times when you get weary. There will be times when you will entertain the thought: "I give but who gives to me?" You will get frustrated of the big responsibility on your shoulders. You will question why your people question your credibility. You will soon ask yourself: "What about me. Do you even know what I am feeling right now?" But you have to get yourself together and move on, then lead on because that is your responsibility. You accepted it, you volunteered to it, you knew the perks and the downsides to it.
I may not be the right person to say the things I said but I will not take it back.
