Clare Has More Cliffs Than the Cliffs of Moher

The Cliffs of Moher get the lion's share of attention on Clare's coast. However, if you go further south, you'll come to Loop Head and Kilkee. The cliffs here might not be nearly as high as their more famous cousins, but what they lack in height, they make up for in drama.

A drive from Kilkee to Loop Head takes you past bays, small islands and tall sea stacks. In this image, looking north from Grean Rock, Bishop's Island is visible to the left. On this 60-metre-high rock, largely inaccessible except to an intrepid climber, there are the remains of a early-Christian oratory, which dates from the 5th century.
