WINDOWS DOESN’T RECOGNIZE MY LEDGER DEVICE
If your windows computer doesn’t recognize your Ledger device, it is likely because the computer lacks the right set of files required for the operating system to interface with your Ledger device or your USB cable/USB port is faulty.
Please download the last update of Ledger Live Application:
1. Ledger Live for Windows 10/11
2. Ledger Live for MAC
3. Ledger Live for Android
Before you start
- Make sure that you are not using an old OS version, as the recent version of Ledger Live is only compatible with Windows 10 or above.
- Ensure that all applications and browser extensions are fully closed before attempting to connect your Ledger Wallet to Ledger Live — this makes it impossible for other applications to interfere with the connection.
- Try restarting your computer before connecting your Ledger device.
If after trying the above tips and the issue of your Ledger Wallet not connecting to Ledger LIve persists, continue to further troubleshoot the issue with the below solution.
Here’s what to do
Solution 1: Replace the USB cable or try another USB port
If you are using a damaged USB cable, your computer will not be able to recognize your device. Get a new USB cable that supports data communication and retry connecting your Ledger device to the computer again.
If the device is still not recognized, try another USB port on your computer to see if it works. For instance, sometimes if you are using a computer with a USB 2.0 and 3.0 port, you might have been trying to connect your Ledger device to USB 2.0.
Solution 2: Update your device driver
If your Windows computer doesn’t recognize your Ledger device, it lacks the right set of files required for the operating system to interface with your Ledger device.
To do this.
- Go to the device manager in your windows computer and locate your Ledger device in the drop-down list.
- Right on it and choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
- If there’s an updated driver available, select it and update.
- After that, your Ledger device should be recognized by your computer.
