In the quick-changing era we live in, the risk of being overloaded with ideas and interruptions is greater than ever. This is when the mindfulness kicks in as a mighty instrument for one to have peace and quietness in the current place.

Essentially, mindfulness can be defined as the implementation of full attention with no biased judgments about the present time. It is focused on the acceptance of our thoughts, sensations, feelings and the world around us with an open mind and a genuine curiosity.

One of the features of mindfulness that stands out is its power to decrease stress and anxiety. Through the present-moment awareness rather than covering the past or worrying about the future, we can make peace with our minds and achieve a state of relaxation that can relieve our feelings of being tense and anxious. Studies indicate that continuous mindfulness exercise lowers the level of cortisols, the hormone responsible for stress, hence one gets to enjoy increased sense of peace.

In the same way, mindfulness can also enhance our mental acuity and cognitive capacity. Through the practice of maintaining a goal-oriented, present-minded thinking, we become better at managing our attention and making improved choices. This often becomes very significant in professional and academic circles, where productivity and performance are given prominence.

However, mindfulness can help to raise both self-awareness and emotional resilience. Through evaluating our thoughts and feelings, we can learn to acquire a more introspective disposition towards ourselves and others. This self-awareness allows us not to be speechless in the face of difficulties, but to meet them with understanding and emotion, instead of spontaneous and irrational reactions driven by habit or emotion.

And in addition to that, mindfulness has been found to be directly correlate to healthy body. Research has proven that mindfulness meditation is effective in reducing blood pressure, amping up the immune system, and even combat chronic pain. Care of the mind is the most important way to improve one’s physical health and the quality of life.

Finally, then, mindfulness is shown to improve people's mental, emotional and physical health in many ways. Through invoking mindfulness into our everyday life through easy-to-use techniques like meditation, deep breathing, or mindful walking, we will be able to develop a better understanding of ourselves, and foster more peace, clarity and balance in our lives.
