설 쇠러 내려가는 기차안 풍경

한국에서의 명절은 특별한 의미를 가집니다. 오랜시간을 가족과 떨어져 대도시의 일원으로 살아가는 많은 수의 사람들은 일년에 두 번, 명절이라는 이름으로 모이는 것이죠. 서로의 안부를 확인하고 기쁨과 아픔을 함께 나누기에는 턱없이 부족한 시간이지만 그냥 얼굴을 보는 것만으로도 즐겁고 행복한 시간이 될 것이라는 기대만으로 고되고 힘들지만 길고도 힘든 ‘귀성길’에 오릅니다

여기는 곡성으로 향하는 여수엑스포행 KTX 열차안입니다. 조용한 열차안은 아이들의 목소리로 활기를 띕니다. 평소에는 보기 힘든 광경이지요. 뒤에 앉은 아이는 몹시 무료한가 봅니다. 언제 도착하느냐고 묻는군요. 대답이 궁색한 아이의 부모는 여기는 공공장소이니 떠들면 안된다고 얼버무리는군요. 안내방송이 나옵니다. 곧 ‘전주역’에 도착한다고 하는군요. 저도 곧 내려야 할 것 같네요.
