The two really have differences; however, we need knowledge in order to acquire important or relevant skills. Like if we know the steps in baking a cake and because we know every detail, we can apply those through a real-time cake-baking session. If we do it again and again through the knowledge that we know, the skill acquired through that knowledge will be hastened more.

That's just my opinion. :)
